Only yesterday (Japan, 1991)

Only yesterday (Omohide poro poro), Japanese animation with English subtitles {not seen at the Hippodrome, but thoroughly enjoyed)

A beautifully drawn, gentle movie about a 27 years old office worker, born and raised in Tokyo, who goes to the country side for vacation. The trip is one in time (flashbacks to her 5th grade years) as well as in another way of life, the one of a farmer.

And in a most unlikely turn of events, some of the sound column is the Hungarian group Muszikas and Marta Sebastyen singing/playing folk music from my corner of the world (Hungarian music but also Bulgarian and an almost surreal instrumental Romanian 'Cintec de nunta' superimposed on sights of green fields; fortunately it stopped short from showing a beautiful girl riding a white horse, too ) .
